Attending the presentation of Dr. Iliana Christodoulou-Varotsi regarding the port state control

On the 19th of March 2019, our Advocates, Mr. Zacharias Kapsis and Mrs. Marianna Xenofontos, represented A. Karitzis & Associates L.L.C., participating in the monthly event organised by the Cyprus Marine Club, of which our firm is a member.

The event took place in New Marina, in Limassol, Cyprus and its topic focused on the ‘Recent findings stemming from Port State Control’. The presentation was conducted by Dr. Iliana Christodoulou Varotsi, Lloyd’s Maritime Academy Course Director/ Trainer and Executive Advisor Oil Spill Consultants Advisory Response (OSCAR Pty Ltd, South Africa).

The epicentre of the presentation was the contemporary challenges and the role of a port State control in Maritime Industry.

During this presentation our advocates had the opportunity to meet, discuss and compare notes with Dr. Iliana Christodoulou Varotsi who shared a brief highlights on her book ‘Marine Pollution Control: Legal & Managerial Frameworks’. This book discusses in a concise manner the key aspects that are important for the understanding of regulations and managerial framework governing marine pollution.
